Russell M. Wells, 71, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at his residence in Bristol, to be reunited with his loving wife, Donna (Eash) Wells, who preceded him in 2001. He was born in Springfield, IL to the late Russell M. Wells and Muriel (Tripp) Wells, who survives him.
He is also survived by his children, Tina Ankrom, Kim Johnson, Rick Bradberry, and Michelle González; 13 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sisters, Linda Lunn, Susan Burns, and Lois Werner; brother, Mike Wells; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; father; son, Mike Bradberry; and sister, Nancy Bell.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation was chosen and will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. A private graveside service will be held at Oakridge Cemetery with military honors, where he will be laid to rest with his wife, Donna, at a later date. Memorial donations may go back to the family directly.
Russell served proudly in the United States Army and the Army National Guard during the Vietnam war for 12 years. He was a true American hero and a decorated soldier who fought alongside his men to defend his country. He later married the love of his life, Donna, whom he shared many wonderful years of marriage beside. Russell worked for United Trailers as a local truck driver and was very involved with his local American Legion. He enjoyed gambling and playing poker with the boys. Russell had also traveled a lot over the years, especially when he was young. Russell will be missed greatly by his loving family and many friends.
