Mr. Russell K. "Keith" Sipress, 88, of Elkhart, was found passed away of natural causes on Thursday, Mar. 16, 2017 at his home.
He was born May 5, 1928 in South Bend to the late Russell A. and Selina (Bardoff) Sipress, and later married Melba J. "Jean" Vandermark in Leesburg in 1954. She precedes him in death in Elkhart in 2015.
Surviving is his brother Thomas E. "Tom" (Shirley) Sipress of Jones, MI; nieces and nephews Denice (Sipress) Kamm of Indianapolis, Daniel Sipress of Bristol, Derick (Sally) Sipress of Jones and Dennis Hepler of Roanoke TX; nine great nieces and nephews, adopted "daughter" Jan Nunemaker and sister-in-law Eileen Vandermark of Norges Minde Vej, Denmark.
Memorial services celebrating Keith's life will be held at the Elkhart First Brethren Church, 24197 CR 16, Elkhart. Visitation will be there on Saturday, March 25, 2017 beginning at 9:00 am followed by a memorial service officiated by Pastor Dan Herendeen at 11:00 am. In accordance with the family's wishes, Keith has been cremated and will be buried at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in South Bend. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with the arrangements.
Keith was a lifelong carpenter, doing everything from home repairs to large construction projects. He enjoyed travelling throughout the United States and abroad, as well as taking care of projects and volunteering at his church. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and was stationed for a time in Yokohama, Japan following WWII to assist with reconstruction there.
Memorial donations may be given to the church.
