Ruby C. Harter, 100, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday evening, March 16, 2017 at Riverside Village. She was born on March 17, 1916 in Alexander, Kansas to late William and Bessie (Weaver) Stump. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Harter; two former husbands, George Shepherd and Stanley LeCount; son Louis William LeCount; two brothers, Worth and Donald Stump; three sisters, Violet Price, Margaret Ritchie and Doris O. Wright and son-in-law Charles C. Chandler. Ruby is survived by her daughter Barbara Jean Chandler of Union; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great children on the way as well as four nieces and nephews. Ruby was a machine operator for 35 years at Miles Laboratories. She enjoyed playing cards, working jig-saw puzzles, fishing, traveling and knitting. She always looked forward to getting together with her large family at family reunions. In accordance with Ruby's wishes, cremation will take place and the urn will be interred on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Kessington Cemetery, Union, Mich. Immediately following interment, a gathering of family and friends will be at the Cass County Conservation Club, 13710 US 12, Union, Mich.
