Obituary
ELKHART — Rubi E. Castillo, 35, of Elkhart, passed away at 8:02 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, at Elkhart General Hospital following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer .
She was born Dec. 28, 1978 in San Salvador, El Salvador, to the late Jorge Figueroa Saprisa and Noemy Melany Castillo.
Surviving is her life partner Ramon "Ray" Trevino, who lives at home along with her children Erick and Chesiree Martinez and Brenda Trevino. Also surviving are her sister, Sara Castillo of Arizona; her brother, Daniel Moram Neto of Elkhart; her aunt Maria H. Castillo and uncle Pastor Daniel Castillo, both of El Salvador; and godparents Lawrence and MsVerna Halliburton of Elkhart.
A viewing will be at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart, followed by a funeral at 6 p.m. Rubi's uncle, Pastor Daniel Castillo, will officiate. In accordance with the family's wishes, she will be cremated following the services.
Rubi was the senior beauty advisor at the Prairie Street Walgreen's for over five years until her health required her early retirement. She was an avid USC fan and was a loving mother and spouse who will be best remembered for her beautiful smile and the small chains and bracelets that she made for all of her friends and co-workers.
Memorial donations may be given on behalf of her children to her spouse, Ray.
