Roy A. Cypert, 82, of Bristol, IN passed away to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. He was born on February 2, 1944, in Iron City, TN to the late Walter and Kate (Holt) Cypert.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Linda Cypert; children, Sheila (Kevin) Phillips and Roy D. Cypert; grandchildren, Trenton, Channing, McKenzie, Austin, Cameron, Michael; 5 great grandchildren; and brother, Robert Cypert. He is preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings.

Visitation will take place on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. The service will begin at noon with Pastor Rick Pirtle officiating. A graveside service will take place immediately following the service at Little Pine Cemetery in Goshen, IN.

Roy was a “jack of all trades” and a kind soul who encouraged people around them to be their best. He lived in Tennessee for most of his life where he was baptized at Piney Grove Church in 1976 and married the love of his life, Linda Horton, on December 3, 1966. Later in life he moved to Elkhart and worked for Elkhart Products for 32 years as a machine operator and lead man prior to retiring. He was a self-taught musician who had perfect pitch and could learn just about any instrument with strings.

Roy was a boxing coach who helped train his son-in-law to be a professional boxer. He was quite talented himself and taught his children and grandchildren to box as well. Roy had a calm demeanor when he taught and was always supportive and encouraging. He was a fantastic gardener who always had a bountiful yield every year. Roy enjoyed racoon hunting as well and had his loyal hound dogs, Clark and Doc to help him. He was also a avid reader and learned to be a herbalist. Roy could make just about any concoction of natural medicine to cure just about any illness, including but not limited to: Mullein, bone knit, poison ivy, burns, cramps, as well as manage heart worms in animals.

Most of all, Roy was a family man and a servant of God. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren with all his heart. His great grandbabies were his whole world. Roy’s favorite pastime with his family was playing games, especially Farkle which was a game his son in law, Kevin, seldom won against him. Roy knew the bible inside and out and read the bible from front to back multiple times. He stayed steadfast in the Lord’s words and found comfort with Him.
