LKHART — Roy M. Anderson, 89, of Elkhart, passed away of natural causes Saturday, June 18, at the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart.
He was born in Ottawa, Minn., June 7, 1927, to the late Hugo and Hilda (Hyrankangas) Anderson and later married Caroline Harte in 1963. She precedes him death along with siblings Helen and Hilma Virnala and Melvin, Wesley, Floyd and Alvin Anderson.
Surviving are daughters Anna (Jeffrey) Bainter and Michelle Juarez-Perez; brothers Marvin and Stanley (Julie) Anderson; sister Agnes (Jim) Winchester; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A graveside service in Rice Cemetery in Elkhart will take place at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, June 23. Military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard and Elkhart DAV No. 19.
Roy worked at GTE for more than 25 years and served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles and will be best remembered for his outspoken personality.
