Obituary

ELKHART -- Ronnie Lee "Ron" Brooks, 66, residing in Elkhart, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 15, 2011, at Elkhart General Hospital from PSP (progressive supranuclear palsy).

Ron was born in Goshen to the late Leroy A. Brooks and Lorraine (Brallier) Wagner. On Nov. 10, 1979, he married Karen S. Harman in Elkhart.

She survives; as well as daughters Jade (John) Robey and Vanessa (Scott) Andrews; sons Martin Bigler, Jamie Duncan, Lanz Brooks and Ronnie Brooks; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson; brother Jan (Vickey) Brooks; and sisters Debra Evans and Darlene Evans.

He was preceded in death by daughter Heidi Bigler.

Ron was a truck driver for many years, working for Weyerhaeuser and Patrick Industries. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1969. Ron was a Bristol High School graduate, loved IU basketball and building models and doing woodworking using a scroll saw.

He will be missed by his family and dog Peanut. Ron's wish was to be cremated. A service to celebrate his life will be at a future time and date. Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
