Ronald W. Taylor, 75, of Elkhart, IN passed away after an extended illness on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at his home.

Ron was born in Elkhart, IN on December 11, 1950 to the late Jack and Lois (Boyer) Taylor. He is survived by the love of his life, Sue (Turpin) Taylor.

Ron is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sue Taylor of Elkhart; children, Jodi (Chris) McKee and Tim (Victoria) Taylor; grandchildren, Olivia McKee, Jack Taylor and Henry Taylor and brother, Dan Taylor. Born and raised in Elkhart, Ron graduated from Elkhart High School with the Class of 1969. He went on to further his education at Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana.

Ron’s strong work ethic developed early. In grade school, he helped his father deliver Christmas apples to customers. By age 16, he was cutting grass for Schultz Realty. He went on to build a diverse professional career, working in surveying for Brads-Ko and in engineering for both the Elkhart City Engineering Department and NIPSCO.

Eventually, Ron joined his father at Elkhart County Abstract Co., discovering a passion for land title work. In 1990, he successfully launched his own business, Elkhart Title Company, which later merged with Meridian Title. He then started Century Title with a partner, before eventually returning to and retiring from Meridian Title in 2008.

Deeply invested in his community, Ron left a lasting legacy through his public service. He served on the Elkhart County Plan Commission from the late 1980s into the 1990s.

As a lifetime member of the Elkhart Jaycees, he was instrumental on the committee that successfully transitioned the school board from appointed to elected. He was also a proud life member of the Elkhart Elks BPOE.

As an original member of the Simonton Lake Sportsmen’s Club, Ron’s civic pride matched his love for the water. He was a driving force behind the committee that established the Conservancy District, which successfully brought the modern sewer system to the Simonton Lake community.

Ron and his wife, Sue, were charter members of New Hope United Methodist Church.

Ron lived for lake life, spent his spare time playing cards, and loved the outdoors. He cherished hunting and fishing trips to Minnesota with his buddies, as well as relaxing boat rides around Simonton Lake.

Ron never knew a stranger and remembered everyone he came in contact with. He was social and had a great sense of humor. Although he could be strong willed at times, it was out of love.

Above all else, Ron was a dedicated family man who deeply loved his country and his family.

A Memorial Service for Ron will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, July 31, 2026 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 28765 County Road 4, Elkhart, IN 46514 with Rev. Sarah Miller officiating.

Friends and family may gather together 2 hours prior to the service on Friday, July 31, 2026 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the church.
