Obituary

Ronald G. "Ron" Silc, 80, of Coloma, Michigan and formerly of Elkhart, finished the race of life today, 28 April 2024. Ron was born on February 12, 1944 in Joliet, Illinois, to the late Harry F. and Hazel R. (Janssen) Silc.

He is survived by his wife Chris (Hoffman), two sons, Aaron and Sarah (Meyer) of Chicago, Ryan and April (Zanfardino) of West Palm Beach, Florida.

A graduate of Joliet High School 1962 and graduate of Governor State University with a bachelor's degree in communications, Ron also served in the Vietnam War with the Army where he was stationed in Panama. Ron was a formative contributor to various up-and-coming technologies over the decades from some of the very first cable television channels to video mall kiosks to the first camera systems on commercial vehicles.

Ron will be remembered for his sincere and caring heart, as a loving husband and father, and for his groundbreaking contributions to the automotive video safety industry. But more than anything, his legacy will live on as a wonderful father to his two children, always providing sage advice on how to handle life's curveballs.

In keeping with Ron's wishes, cremation was chosen. Burial and military honors by the United States Army Funeral Honor Guard will be held at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. The family kindly request memorials to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.

Arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart, where condolences may be sent to Ron's family at www.billingsfuneralhome.com.
