IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald B.
"Ron" Macumber
January 15, 1952 – September 13, 2024
Ronald "Ron" B. Macumber, 72, of Elkhart, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Elkhart General Hospital.
Ron was born on January 15, 1952 in Elkhart, IN to the late William "Bill" R. Macumber, Sr. and Clara R. (Black) Macumber. He married the love of his life, Eva E. (Morrow) Macumber at Elkhart Church of Christ on February 17, 1979.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, William R. Macumber, Sr. and Clara R. Macumber; sister, Bonnie Green; brother, William "Bill" Macumber Jr.; and niece, Libbi Thompson.
Ron is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eva E. Macumber of Elkhart; daughter, Samantha (Adam) Troup of South Bend; adored grandson, James Troup; sister, Connie (Jerry) Johnson; sister-in-law, Jo Macumber; brother-in-law, Tom (Patti) Green; sister-in-law, Shelia (Michael) Jackson-Garity; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his cat, Cobb.
Ron honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from January 1970 to August 1978. He was also a past member with the Marine Corps League in Elkhart.
Ron was a volunteer firefighter with the Cleveland Township Volunteer Fire Department from 1981 to 1992.
Ron was employed at Whitehall Labs from 1978 to 1991. He earned his CDL in 1991 and worked as a long-haul truck driver for several years. He joined the drivers team at Dexter Group (then Philips Products) in 2004. He retired from Dexter Group in August 2024.
Ron bowled for many years, in mens and mixed leagues with his wife, Eva. Ron could often be found playing video poker on his tablet; occasionally playing with his friends and daughter at the Goshen Elks, or at the casino. In his spare time, Ron could often be found tinkering around the house; working on his truck; or helping friends and family with various projects. He was always willing to lend a hand when needed.
Ron was an ornery and strong-willed man; yet he always made time to crack jokes with the ones he loved. He loved spending time with his grandson James, sharing his love of cars by fostering his interest in Hot Wheels and RC vehicles.
