ELKHART -- Ronald L. "Ron" Quick, 60, of Elkhart, died at 6:41 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 21, 2008) in Elkhart General Hospital apparently after a heart attack.


He was born Feb. 22, 1948, in Marion to Herbert L. and Lou (Bowels) Quick.


Mr. Quick is survived by five daughters, Jennifer (Mick) Fox of Gas City, Tami (Pat) May of Marion, Lana Quick of Fairmount, Melinda (Arron) Frederickson of Warsaw and Carrie Quick of Kokomo; two stepdaughters, Amy (Mike) Graw of Goshen and Beth (Donnie) Wentland of Elkhart; one stepson, Shawn Milliken of Indianapolis; his mother, Lou Ellis of Swayzee; one sister, Madeline Ritchie of Elkhart; and three brothers, Jack Antrobus of Marion, Andy (Mary) Ellis of Fairmount and Carl Antrobus of Fort Wayne; and his fiancee, Sharol Milliken of Goshen.


He was preceded in death by an infant son, his father and his stepfather, James Ellis.


Mr. Quick worked at Utilimaster, Wakarusa, for over 10 years as a production worker, group leader and quality control auditor. He loved music of all kinds and had been a member of a band most of his adult life playing lead and bass guitar, keyboards and singing. He played country and classic rock with the local band DSO.


Mr. Quick's version of "Brown Eyed Girl" (originally by Van Morrison) was a favorite among his friends and family. He was an animal lover and had several cats and ferrets.


Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and one hour prior to Monday's 11 a.m. funeral service at the funeral home. Pastor Michael Van De Voorde will officiate. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
