Ronald "Ron" J. Goorhouse, 79, of Elkhart, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at his home.

Ron was born on July 4, 1945 in Hillsdale, MI to the late John and Elizabeth (Thompson) Goorhouse.

Ron is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty (Lester) Goorhouse in 1989; second wife, Grace (Edmonds) Cook-Goorhouse in 2018; son, John Goorhouse on April 27, 2021; step daughter, Vicky Cassity; brothers, Fordyce and Robert Goorhouse; and grandson, DJ Rahn.

Ron is survived by his children, Peggy Holt (Rich Newman) of Mishawka, IN and Chris Goorhouse (Judith Smith) of Elkhart; stepdaughter, Cheryl Price; brothers, Henry and Buck  Goorhouse; sister, Betty Freel; grandchildren, Krystle, Ryan, Blake, Ashley, Carrie, Ryan, Allan, Jessica and Matt; and great grandchildren, Amelia, Dakota, Skyla, Stella, James, Jameson and Amelie.

Ron was a high school graduate of Jimtown High School. He was a life long plumber starting at Smith Plumbing and Ron Newton Plumbing. Ron retired in 1995 from Big John's Heating and Cooling in which he worked with his late son, John.

Ron was a member of the Union Local 166 for 50 years.

Ron appreciated classic cars especially his own 1934 Ford and 1953 Chevy. He attended many car shows with his son, Chris and watched car races.

Ron was an avid fisherman as well.

He was an easy going and fun guy. Ron was a very personable and well liked man.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens and Cemetery in Osceola, IN. Rev. Tom Entinghe is presiding.

Please celebrate with food and fellowship after the graveside at the The Gathering Place at 1231.
