Obituary
Ronald E. Hickman, 77, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, with his family by his side.
He was born Dec. 20, 1938, in Mishawaka, to Marvin Z. and Rosa L. (Ford) Hickman.
On Jan. 23, 1960, he married his loving wife, the late Gloria Jean Hickman. She preceded him in death Sept. 18, 2014.
Survivors include two daughters, Nina (David) Mark of Elkhart and Stephanie (Mike Weingart) Hickman of Elkhart; two sons, Ronald (Gaylene Sonnenberg) Hickman Jr. of Elkhart and Jody (Marie Taylor) Hickman of Elkhart; two brothers, Robert (Betty) Hickman and Jimmy (Phyllis) Hickman of Mendon, Mich.; three sisters, Barbara Reynolds of Elkhart, Marcella (Victor) Suglia of Plainwell, Mich. and Oveta Shipman of Elkhart; eight grandchildren, Ann (Carlos Padilla) Baughman, Travis Denny, Ron Charles, Staj Hickman, Rachelle (Justin) Elliott, Alyssa (Josh Malcolm) Jewel, Alec Mark and Rex Hickman; and three great-grandchildren, Talia, Marlon and Dominic Padilla.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Zella Harris and one brother, Clemmy Lou Hickman.
Ron was the co-founder, owner and operator of 20th Century Fiberglass, Inc. in Elkhart prior to his retirement.
Additionally, he was the co-owner of Century Distributing as well as Cobus Storage.
Ron was a wonderful father, husband and a generous man to everyone with whom he came in contact.
He always credited his success to his Lord and Savior.
The family will receive friends three hours prior to the 6 p.m. funeral service Monday, Nov. 21, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart.
Pastor Lewis J. Clifton will officiate.
Inurnment will follow at a later date in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
