IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald Eugene
Cataldo
February 18, 1936 – October 4, 2024
Ronald Eugene Cataldo passed away peacefully at his home in Elkhart, Indiana on October 4, 2024, surrounded in love by his family.
A life-long resident of Elkhart, Ron was born on February 18, 1936, to Peter Carmen Cataldo and Mary Edith (Huff) Cataldo. Ron was raised by his beloved paternal grandparents, Frank Carmen Cataldo and Teresa Cataldo (nee Cinanni). Married on July 16, 1953, Ron and his high school sweetheart, Nancy (nee Albaugh) celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary last summer.
Ron was a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker for many years. Ron and his wife owned and operated the JVC Rubber Stamp Company in Elkhart for 23 years.
Ron loved to garden, and he was an avid birder. He also enjoyed fishing and just being outdoors. A life-long learner, Ron enjoyed a breadth of reading in the areas of fiction and non-fiction. He also enjoyed preparing food and was a skilled cook. Ron was a lector at both St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, and he was a member of The Knights of Columbus.
Ron is survived by his wife of 71 years, Nancy Cataldo (nee Albaugh), his children Timothy Cataldo (Shelley), Lisa Williams (Steve), Debra Bullock (John) and Angela Cataldo (Dominic Tocci), brothers Richard Cataldo (Pam), Thomas Cataldo (Reverie), Michael Cataldo, Patrick Cataldo, Frank (Wanda) Cataldo, and his sisters, Carolyn Grahn, Linda Miller, Susan Cataldo, Patricia Clayborn, and Melanie Lung.
Ron was a grandfather of thirteen, a great-grandfather of eleven, and was looking forward to becoming a great-great-grandfather in the coming Spring.
Ron was preceded in death by his cherished paternal grandparents, Frank and Teresa Cataldo, his maternal grandparents William Perry Huff and Mary Edith (Cyphers) Huff, his parents Peter Cataldo and Mary (nee Huff) Monroe, a sister Anita Kay Allen, and his maternal uncle Robert Perry Huff.
Ron practiced his Catholic faith all of his life, and when asked, shortly before his passing, if there were words he would like to share, he said: "God be praised forever."
