Ronald Eugene
Allen
Aug 7, 1936 — Jul 10, 2026
Elkhart, IN
Ronald Eugene Allen, 89, of Elkhart, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026 at his home.
Ronald was born in Elkhart, IN on August 7, 1936 to the late, Russel C. and Bertha M. (Adams) Allen. He married the love of his life, Rose Ann (Viers) Allen on February 5, 1956 in Elkhart, IN. She passed away on April 23, 2025.
He is preceded in death by his daughters, Terry Ann VonBlon and Tina Allen; granddaughter, Candi VonBlon; and brothers and sisters, Chester Allen, Merle Humfleet, Frank Allen and Terry Allen.
Ronnie is survived by his daughter, Wanda (Jerry) Jones of Elkhart; grandchildren, Crystal (Brock), Brandon, April (Danny), Casey, Adam and Ciara; 13 great grandchildren; close friend, Tennis Spencer and several cousins, nephews and nieces.
Ronnie was a mainstay of the Elkhart community, spending most of his life working for the City of Elkhart Street Department. His commitment to the city extended through his many years of employment with the Elkhart City Cemeteries.
His faith and spirit of service were also evident at New Testament Bible Church. For many years, Ronnie served as a head usher and, alongside his beloved wife Rose, faithfully set up funeral luncheons to comfort grieving families in their time of need.
An avid outdoorsman, Ronnie found great joy in tending to his yard and camping (at the behest of his wife, Rose). He was exceptionally creative and a talented craftsman; he proudly built his own home and filled his life with numerous woodworking projects.
In his later years, he found peace in putting together jigsaw puzzles. Ronnie was also an enthusiast of classic cars and a dedicated collector of Publishers Clearing House toys. He also loved relaxing with a good movie. Above all his achievements, Ronnie’s greatest devotion was to his family. He took exceptional care of his wife, Rose Ann, and treasured every family get-together. He always looked forward to traveling back to Virginia to visit Rose’s family and share her roots with the family.
His kindness, work ethic, and love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ronnie was tireless and spoke his mind. He was a hard worker and would give the shirt off of his own back.
A Funeral Service for Ronnie will be held at 12:00pm noon on Friday, July 17, 2026 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 with Pastor Shirley Fox of New Testament Bible Church officiating.
