ELKHART — Ronald A. "Ronnie" Johnson, 59, of Elkhart, passed away following a sudden illness at 12:33 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born in Athens, Ala., on July 9, 1955, to the late Alvin C. Johnson and Frances (Perry) Faught, who survives in Elkhart.
On March 25, 2004, he married Deanna L. "Dee" (Tredway), who survives him at home.
He is also survived his children, Neil Johnson of Goshen and Angela Johnson of Elkhart; grandchildren Blake, Gavin and Destiny; siblings William (Kim) Raley of Shipshewana, Virginia Peli of Mishawaka and Sherry Raley of Osceola; stepchildren Jimmy James Clement of Georgia, Jeff Clement of California and Chad (Amy) Clement, Lisa (Chuck) Clement-Groh and Kari (Alex) Alters, all of Illinois; as well as 19 step-grandchildren and 17 great-step-grandchildren, including two on the way! Numerous loving cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceding him in death were his father and a brother, David Raley Sr.
Ronnie was an over-the-road truck driver for many years, most recently working for Logistcs by Bontreger of Bristol. He also worked in the RV industry in the Michiana area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving at Fort Knox, Ky. He was a lifetime member of the Bristol American Legion and was an avid Green Bay Packers and NASCAR fan.
In accordance with the family's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Ronnie's life will be at a later date.
Arrangements have been placed under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart.
