He was born April 14, 1941, in Charleston, W. Va., to Irvin Lee and Irene (Dass) Snead. On Sept. 19, 1959, he married Patricia Tippins in Goshen.

She survives along with one son, Daniel A. Snead of Elkhart; three daughters, Sandra (Don) Greathouse of Union, Mich., and Marie (Bryan) Drake and Mary (John) Trinidad, both of Elkhart; two brothers, Jennings "Doodle" (Jewel) Alderman and Eugene "Gino" Alderman, both of Elkhart; three sisters, Sally (Jack) Burdin of Brownsville, Texas, Mary Ashbury of Dunbar, W. Va., and Betty Sue (Sonny) Reynolds, of Goodland; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Snead; and his granddaughter, Ashley Snead.

Friends may call one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. Saturday funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Donnie Greathouse of New Life In Christ Ministries will officiate. Entombment will follow in Hope Mausoleum, Rice Cemetery.

Mr. Snead was a self-employed businessman and worked many years in the RV industry. He formerly worked at Elcona Mobile Homes and started Valley Mobile Homes in Terre Haute. He attended Cedar Grove High School in West Virginia, where he lettered with the football team. He enjoyed using his metal detector to find hidden treasure, which he kept in a metal box to show family and friends. He was a cowboy at heart and a devoted Houston Oilers fan. He also enjoyed using his CB radio.
