Roger W. Neely, 81, of Edwardsburg, MI passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born in Elkhart on February 26, 1939 to the late Donald and June (Ray) Neely.
Roger was a kind man who always wore a smile on his face and had a warm personality with a good sense of humor. He was the owner and founder of Roger Neely Construction since 1965 and later drove cars for Enterprise for 10 years prior to retiring. Roger worked hard and played hard. He took great pride in the quality of his craftsmanship and always helped friends and family with any home improvement project. Roger married the love of his life, Sally Jones, on June 12, 1984 and they spent 37 wonderful years beside one another. He was an active member of the VFW, Eagles, and Moose Lodge for many years. Roger always enjoyed going to the VFW, "The Tank", during his spare time and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Roger's two favorite activities were taking trips Up North to hunt for Morels and taking trips to Florida. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Sally Neely; sons, Todd (Cambria) Neely, Jeff Neely, George (Lori) Pierpont; daughters, Brenda Parker, Toni (Chris DeGroff) Neely, Traci (Bryan) Nicol; Denise (Rick) Schott, Pamela (Marvin) Berry, and Carol Pierpont; son-in-law, Dave Weidner; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Stan (Linda) Neely; sister, Sue Thompson; and sister-in-law, Sharon Neely. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Weidner; and brother, Jerry Neely.
In accordance with Roger's wishes, cremation was chosen and he will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in a private family ceremony. The family plans to have a celebration of life this Summer once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin Street in Elkhart are in care of arrangements.
