ELKHART — Rogene H. "Jeannie" Sedlar, 73, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, at the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart following an extended illness.
She was born on Sept. 22, 1942, in Manistee, Mich., to the late Florian and Evelyn (Banicki) Dontz.
Surviving are her spouse of 34 years, Ed Watkins, of Elkhart; her son, Patrick Sedlar of Winter Park, Colo.; granddaughter Anne Sedlar; four brothers; and one sister.
In accordance with Jeannie's wishes, Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been entrusted with private arrangements. Burial will follow at a later date at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Manistee.
Jeannie was a warrants officer with the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department for over 30 years. She was a member of the Elkhart FOP, the Christiana Creek Elks Club and Elkhart Women of the Moose No. 73.
