Rodney M. "Rod" Batts, 51, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at South Bend Memorial Hospital. He was born in Yuba City, California on January 22, 1973, to Roger Dale and Judy (Bookout) Batts.

Rod is survived by his loving wife, Caralea Batts; children, Stephanie (Jeffery) Stanley, Kasandra (Christopher) Williams, Ashton Witt, and Aspen Morgan; grandchildren, Jordan, Clara, Makayla, Chandler, Gage, Landyn, and Parker; mother, Judy Batts; siblings, Debbie (Charles) Miller and Donnie Batts; and nieces and nephews, Taiya, Darren, and Tyler. He is preceded in death by his father and brother, Roger Dale Batts Jr.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 1-2 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. A sharing of memories service along with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jeremy Sarber officiating. Cremation was chosen.

Rod proudly served in the United States Marines and worked in Customer Service for Forest River for several years. He was a kind and caring man who always seemed to maintain a positive and upbeat personality. Rod could not tell a good joke, but he enjoyed making people laugh with his witty sense of humor. He had a big heart and would do anything to help anyone in need but would first and foremost put his family first. Rod's family was his whole world, and he enjoyed being a good father.  In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and cheering on the Fighting Irish. Rod will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends.
