ELKHART -- Roberta E. Moore, 92, of Elkhart, died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 13, 2009) in Elkhart Hospice House.


She was born Nov. 5, 1916, in Lansing, Mich., to Charlie and Lula (Moon) Carter. On Aug. 28, 1937, she married Robert B. Moore in Lansing. He died Sept. 2, 2002, in Florida.


Mrs. Moore is survived by one daughter, Amy L. Moore of Elkhart; one son, Terry R. Moore; two grandchildren; and one brother, Leonard (Elaine) Carter of Mason, Mich.


She was a homemaker, a Girl and Boy Scout leader and a former secretary to the area executive of the Boys Scouts of America, Lansing. Mrs. Moore volunteered for the Special Olympics and at Riverview School, and was a volunteer guide dog trainer in Brandenton, Fla.


An avid traveler, she visited 18 countries and 50 states. She enjoyed weaving, knitting and attending gigs of the New Horizon Band.


Cremation will take place and there will be no visitation. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is assisting with arrangements.
