Obituary
ELKHART -- Robert "Rube" Zayak, 55, of Elkhart, died Monday (Feb. 28, 2011) at home.
He was born Aug. 6, 1955, in Louisville, Ky.
Survivors include daughter Suzanne Zayak of Edwardsburg, Mich.; son Micheal J. Pope of Revenna, Ohio; parents Joseph A. and Jo Tava (Kelley) Zayak of Revenna; brothers John Zayak of Fall Brook, Calif., and Daniel (Elizabeth) Hughes of Coxs Creek, Ky.; sisters Becky Kendrick of Pikeville, Ky., Nancy (Carl) Cuya of Philadelphia and Stephanie (James) Tarr of Ravenna; and two grandchildren.
Rube was employed as a truck driver with several transportation companies. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Prairie Street Cemetery Veteran Towers. Chaplain Andy Williams will officiate. Military graveside honors will be rendered by the United States Navy Funeral Honor Guard and DAV Chapter 19, Elkhart. A gathering of family and friends will be at the Edwardsburg Conservation Club following graveside services.
