ELKHART — Robert H. "Bob" Wilmore, 78, of Elkhart, passed away early Friday morning, Dec. 16, at his home.
Bob was born Feb. 17, 1938, in Elkhart, to Robert H. and Helen (Cripe) Wilmore Sr. He married Brookie T. Harbor on Aug. 18, 1991, in Elkhart. Brookie passed away April 22.
Surviving are his sons, Robert "Bob" (Beth) Wilmore of Goshen, David McCoy of Elkhart and Brian Wilmore of Marcellus, Mich.; daughters Melissia "Jawain" (Jay) Ball of Elkhart and Laurie (Delbert) Ritchie of Elkhart; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren plus one on the way; and one great-great-granddaughter; brother David (Sandy) Wilmore and sister RaNay Wilmore, both of Elkhart; and several nieces and nephews surviving as well.
Bob worked at Elkhart Products for 55 years as a lead-man. He had 15 years of perfect attendance. Bob was a member of the IAM (International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers) Local No.1315 also did farming for many years. He was a 1957 graduate of Elkhart High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1958. Bob was a member of the Word of Life Fellowship Church and was a huge Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed bowling and fishing.
Friends may call for one hour prior to the noon Celebration of Life service Wednesday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Delbert Ritchie will officiate. Military honors will be rendered at the conclusion of the service at the funeral home by U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard and DAV Chapter No.19. Burial will then follow at Olive East Cemetery.
