He was born March 29, 1922, in Nappanee to Kenton L. and Madge A. (Ulery) Mellinger. He is survived by one brother, Joel Mellinger of Syracuse; and one sister, Joan (Marvin) Stump of Elkhart.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and John Mellinger; and two sisters, Bette Dawson and Mariette Paradiso.

There will be no visitation or service, and cremation will take place. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mellinger retired from Johnson Controls in Goshen, where he had worked for more than 20 years. He sang with the Truth in Jazz Band and with Albert at Bulldog Restaurant & Lounge.

Mr. Mellinger was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during World War II.
