ELKHART — Mr. Robert K. "Bob" Curtis, 81, of Elkhart, passed away after an extended illness at Golden Living Center in Elkhart, at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013.
He was born in Elkhart on Dec. 5, 1932, to the late Henrietta (Brimmelhoff) Culp.
He married Beth Ann Young on Nov. 4, 1972, in Elkhart. She survives at home.
Also surviving are daughters Beverly (Mark) Stamper and Tricia (Mike) Wyrick both of Elkhart; brother Harold (Norma) Curtis of Elkhart; sisters Janet Simco of Calif., and Gloria Curtis of Lansing, Mich.; grandchildren Ashlee, Alisha, Tifani and Shawna; and one great-grandchild on the way.
Preceding him in death were siblings, Richard, Barbara and Genevieve.
Bob worked as a tire-mounter at Tredit Tire and Wheel Co. for more than 27 years, retiring in 1997. He was an avid NASCAR racing fan and built race cars for family members, who would run them at Mottville, Mich.,, New Paris and Plymouth. His favorite driver was Dale Jarrett.
In accordance with the family's wishes, Bob is to be cremated and a memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements have been placed under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart.
