ELKHART — Robert B. Jernigan Jr., 52 passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012, at his residence.
He was born June 12, 1959, in Fort Riley, Kan., to Robert B. Jernigan Sr. and Lottie J. (Hibbard) Jernigan. On June 21, 1990, he married Judy (Plummer) Jernigan in Elkhart.
In addition to his wife, other survivors include a son, Nate Jernigan of Elkhart; mother Lottie Joan Jernigan of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and four sisters, Deborah (Chris) Collins of Conway, S.C., Terri (Travis) Hickel of Williston, N.D., Tina (Gary) Cline of Elkhart and Jorjanna (Jim) Miller of Plymouth.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Lynda Brackett.
Robert was a 1977 graduate of Rocky Mountain High School and later graduated from Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana as a licensed practical nurse in 2007. Robert was employed as a ironworker for more than 20 years and later worked as a LPN at Woodland Manor. He enjoyed watching and coaching baseball, NASCAR, sports cars and his German shepherd.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart.
