He was born Oct. 20, 1924, in Clarksdale, Miss., to Thomas and Lena (Phillips) House. He married Ruth Dancler on Nov. 16, 1958, in Elkhart.
She survives along with eight sons, David House of Chicago and Elbert (Sally) House, Dewayne House, James (Wanda) House, Robert (Francine) House Jr., Warren (Patricia) House, Shawn (Rose) House and Paul (Tamera) House, all of Elkhart; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four sisters, Annie Pearl Garner of Memphis, Tenn., Henrietta (Charles) Stewart of Cassopolis, Mich., and Mary (Jessie) Jackson and Pearl (Harold) Williams, both of Elkhart; and five brothers, Thomas (LeVater) House, Clemon (Mary) House, Arlin (Zellie) House, all of Dowagiac, Mich., Horace (Annie) House of Florida and Henry (Ora) House of Elkhart.
Mr. House was preceded in death by a daughter, Bridget M. House, and several brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the South Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 25448 C.R. 22, Elkhart. Elder Curtis Williams will officiate, with burial at a later date in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., is assisting with arrangements.
Mr. House worked at Miles Laboratories on the Alka-Seltzer and vitamin lines for many years. He also worked at for Baugo Community Schools, Richardson Mobile Homes and the former Hotel Elkhart. He was a member of the South Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and enjoyed photography. Mr. House was a World War II Army veteran.
