ELKHART — Robert L. Holt, 59, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Elkhart General Hospital, after a brief illness.

Robert was born Nov. 23, 1955, in Blytheville, Ark., to Peter Rixter Sr. and Madie (Andrews) Holt.

He married Connie M. Long on May 27, 1979, in Honolulu.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Connie M. Holt of Elkhart; son Robert (Stacey) Rapier of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters, Jasmine Holt of Mishawaka and Sheena Holt of Elkhart; nine grandchildren; five brothers, Peter Jr. of Chicago, Willie (wife Loretta), Curtis (wife Jean), Grady (wife Debbie) and Eddie, all of Elkhart; two sisters, Barbara (husband Howard) and Diane, both of Elkhart; two aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James A.; two sisters, Ruby Jean and Vina Mae; his aunt, Elviry; four nephews, Michael, Jamie, Grady Jr. and James Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Monte.

Robert was a graduate of Elkhart Central High School and served in the U.S. Army for nine years. He formerly worked at Gunite Corp. in Elkhart. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and adored being a grandpa to his grandkids.

Friends may call for an hour prior to the noon Saturday, Sept. 26, home-going service at Greater Wayside Temple COGIC, 638 Goshen Ave., Elkhart. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery.
