EDWARDSBURG, Mich. -- Robert L. Fisher, 74, of Edwardsburg, died at 3:37 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 29, 2009) in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.

He was born Jan. 2, 1935, in Elkhart, Ind., to James Andrew and Alice Rose (Vollstedt) Fisher.

Mr. Fisher is survived by one son, Bobby D. (Carol) Fisher of Edwardsburg; one daughter, Laurie Hodges of Elkhart; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, John R. Fisher of Goshen, Ind.

He was preceded in death by one brother, James Fisher.

Mr. Fisher served in the U.S. Army for 14 years with the 101st Airborne Division and was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from the quality control division of Patriot Homes and most recently worked as a driver for Star Fleet. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Elkhart Lodge 599.

Friends may call from noon until the 2 p.m. Thursday funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Dale Turner of Zion Missionary Church will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. The U.S. Army Honor Guard will render military honors at the funeral home.
