Robert E. "Bob" Ellsworth, 75, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 31, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 13, 1939, in Elkhart, to John and Pauline (McLaughlin) Ellsworth.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Jo Ellsworth of Elkhart; a daughter, Tammy Jo (Mark) Hillebrand of Osceola; a stepson, Don (Kellie) Holsomback of Elkhart; a stepdaughter, Diana (David) Manning of Arlington, Texas; four sisters, Joan Besinger of Mishawaka and Judy Nine, Mary (Tony) Companion and Betty Jo (Richard) Moore, all of Elkhart; a brother, Harold "Skeet" (Bonnie) Ellsworth of Elkhart; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald John Ellsworth and Johnnie Ellsworth Jr.; four sisters, Annie Papas, Linda Burger, Roxie Kittredge and Loretta Roose; and brother-in-law and good friend Doug Nine.
Bob loved taking care of his cats, playing cards, especially gin, and enjoyed watching NASCAR. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan.
He spent a lot of time with family and friends and often fishing, hunting mushrooms, snowmobiling and golfing with his wife, son and daughter.
Bob proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1956 until 1959.
He was employed as a driver for Skyline Corp. for more than 25 years and later worked at Gemeinhardt for nearly 10 years prior to his retirement.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart.
Burial of his cremated remains will be at a later date in Prairie Street Cemetery.
