ELKHART — Robert "Dale" Duncan, 72, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, April 9, at Eastlake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.
Dale was born Aug. 15, 1943, in Paducah, Ky., to the late Hurley and Inez Duncan.
In addition to his parents, five brothers — Harold, Raymond, Edward, Kenneth and Eugene Duncan — and sister Evelyn Morris preceded him in death.
Surviving are his children, Tonya Duncan of Elkhart, Kelli Duncan of Jackson, Mich., Troy Howerton of Oceanside, Calif., and Rich Duncan of Oklahoma.; five grandchildren, Jordy, Hannah, Jami, Kelsi and Troy Jr.; a great-grandson, Grady; two brothers, Joe (Angela) Duncan of Brighton, Mich., and Noble (Shirley) Duncan of Jackson, Mich.; two sisters, Eva "Moe" Draffen of Michigan and Louise Yancy of California; and his former wife, Teresa Duncan of Hillsdale, Mich., whom he considered the love of his life.
Dale was the owner of Duncan's Painting in the Elkhart and Jackson, Mich., areas. He also bartended for many years. Dale loved living at Sand Lake in Hillsdale, Mich. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and sports. He was a huge University of Michigan fan.
A gathering of Dale's friends and family will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, April 18, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. The evening will conclude with a time for sharing memories. Dale's wishes were for cremation. The family will scatter his cremated remains at the lake.
