ELKHART — Robert E. "Doc" Crawford, 95, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, March 29, at the Elkhart Hospice House.
He was born March 2, 1921, in Jimtown, to Gordon and Mary (James) Crawford.
He was a 1940 graduate of Elkhart High School and later married the late Dorothy (Walters) Crawford on Nov. 19, 1941. She preceded him in death on Nov. 24, 2012.
Survivors include three sons, Dale G. Crawford of Fort Wayne, James A. (Judith) Crawford of Goshen and Steven R. Crawford of Elkhart; four grandsons, Michael (Angela), Christopher, Jeffrey and Jason Crawford; four great-granddaughters; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Affectionately know as "Doc" by co-workers, he was employed at Star Machine Tool & Die from 1945 until his retirement in 1985.
He was an avid sports fan and played on local softball teams for a number of years.
Cremation will take place and a private graveside service will take place in Rice Cemetery at a later date.
Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is entrusted with arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or the Faith Mission in memory of Robert.
