Robert Daniel Evans, 84, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully and in the comfort of his home on Friday, January 7, 2022. Robert was born on June 8, 1937 in Cloverdale, Alabama to the late Fred Evans and Vernadean (Fulmer) Evans. Robert proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1958. Robert retired in 2007 as the traffic manager and mechanic at Leer/TAG after 25 years of service. Surviving is a son Robert Evans Jr., daughter Ericka Lynn and grandson Emmit Evans, and his longtime companion Sandy Clemens. He was preceded in death by a daughter Lisa Thielke.

Robert enjoyed camping and watching NASCAR, his favorite driver is Ryan Newman.

Celebration of life services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the Gathering Place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart, where friends may call 1 hour prior to the service. Pastor Jeremy Sarber will officiate. Military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard and DAV #19., at the start of the service. Committal services and placement of his cremated remains will follow in the Veterans section at Prairie Street Cemetery.  If so desired, memorials are requested to Heartland Hospice.
