Obituary

Robert "Bob" Charles Dixon, Sr., 81, of Elkhart, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

Bob was born on May 14, 1943, in Bristol, IN to the late, John and Myrtle (Richmond) Dixon. He is married to Cindy A. (Ewing) Dixon on September 29, 2007, at St. John of the Cross Episcopal Church.

He is preceded in death by his first wife Pat after 42 years of marriage. She passed away in 2006. He is also predeceased by his stepdaughter, Jennifer Ewing Taylor, and brothers, Richard and Kenneth Dixon and furry companions, McGruff and Kaily

Robert is survived by his wife, Cindy; children, Laura (Geoff) Twietmeyer, Rob Dixon Jr. (Teri), Bryan (Chizuru) Dixon and Denis Ewing; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his furry companion, Liberty.

Bob was raised in Bristol, IN attending Bristol High School. Bob honorably served in the United States Marine Corp proudly serving for 4 years. He was a member of the DAV 19 for over 50 years, member of the Elkhart Honor Guard and American Legion 143.

Bob was an involved member and volunteer at St. John of the Cross Episcopal Church for many years. He was a Chalice Bearer and part of the Strawberry Social at the church.

Bob was a truck driver for over 43 years working for CW Johnson, FTE (Dana) Bendix, Phillips and Dometic.

In his spare time, Bob enjoyed going out to eat at his favorite restaurants, especially having breakfast with his fellow trucker friends. Bob was an avid fisherman who looked forward to trips to Canada and sitting out on his pontoon boat.

Bob had a dry sense of humor who often teased the ones he loved. He left his mark in this world, and he will be greatly missed. As Bob would affectionately say, "Just checking in".

A Funeral Service for Bob will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at St. John of the Cross Episcopal Church, 601 Vistula Rd., Bristol, IN 46507 with Rev. Jen Fulton officiating.

A visitation with the family with be 1 hour prior to the start of the service from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the church.

If you served in the U.S. Military whether active or retired, you are more than welcome to wear your military branch apparel.

Full military honors rendered by the U.S. Marine Corp and Elkhart Honor Guard will be at St. John of the Cross Church Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be directed to the St. John of the Cross Church, DAV Post 19 in Elkhart or the Honor Flight Network.
