ELKHART — Riley McClure, 71, passed away at his west side Elkhart home on Friday, May 4, 2012, at 9:47 p.m. after an extended illness.
He was born in Pulaski, Tenn., on May 1, 1941, to the late Marvin A. and Virginia I. (Chapman) McClure and later married Shirley A. Hoopingarner in 1963 in Pulaski. She survives at home.
Also surviving are his sons, Riley McClure Jr. and Steven Peepers of Elkhart and Jed (Liana) McClure of South Bend; daughter Shelia Ball of Elkhart; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Bill, Alfred and Buster McClure, and a sister, Betty Pressler, preceded him in death.
Riley was a heavy equipment operator for the city of Elkhart's Parks Department for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1999.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart, with viewing beginning at 4 p.m. Pastor Tim Sheets of Northside Church of the Nazarene will officiate. In accordance to Riley's wishes, he will be cremated following the services.
