ELKHART -- Ricky F. Holaway, 58, of Elkhart, died at 3:45 p.m. Monday (Jan. 12, 2009) in Hospice House of Elkhart after a battle with cancer.
He was born July 29, 1950, in Jasper, Ala., to Claud W. and Cloa J. (Williams) Holaway.
Mr. Holaway is survived by his mother of Elkhart; one sister, Manda (Ernie) Harris of Elkhart; two brothers, Ralph (Judy) Holaway of Elkhart and Roger D. (Susan) Holaway of LaPorte; and his companion of 15 years, Tammy K. Geiger of Elkhart, and her two daughters, Elizabeth Geiger and Jessica (fiance John Flack) Geiger, both of Elkhart.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy D. Holaway, and his father.
Mr. Holaway worked as a quality control specialist at Reese Products of Elkhart (now Cequent Products of Goshen) for more than 30 years. He enjoyed landscaping, working in his yard, spending time with his family, hunting and fishing, and after his health declined, watching hunting and fishing shows on television.
He was a 1969 graduate of Elkhart High School and spent six years in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam War.
A gathering of friends and family was Jan. 15, 2009, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. No formal service has been scheduled. A private family graveside service will take place today in Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen.
