ELKHART — Rickey E. Cheek, 65, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at his home.

He was born April 21,1952, in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Bobby Eugene and Norma Jean (Wynn) Cheek.

He married Linda J. Schoonover; she survives, as well as a sister, Cindy Sommer and two nieces.

In addition to his parents, a niece, Norma Jean Sommer preceded him in death.

Rick worked at St. Paul's Retirement Community as a HIVAC technician.

He enjoyed tinkering with projects, gardening, yardwork and studying the stock market.

An open house for family and friends to celebrate Rick's life will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22 at the family home, 55677 Rivershore Lane, Elkhart, IN 46516. Per Rick's wishes, cremation was chosen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home.
