Dec. 6, 1959 - July 15, 2012

ELKHART — Ricky Alvin Davis, 52, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday morning, July 15, 2012, at the Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart.

He was born Dec. 6, 1959, to Robert O. Davis and Alberta L. (Boocher) Bertolan in Elkhart.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert O. Davis; brother Robert E. Davis; and stepfather Joseph Bertolan.

Survivors include his mother, Alberta L. Bertolan of South Bend; brother Victor (Thema) Davis of Edwardsburg, Mich.; sisters Ann (Randall) Brooks and Debra (Octavio) Echeverria, both of Elkhart; three stepsisters, Jackie and Bonnie Bertolan of South Bend and Liz Williamowski of Mishawaka; and several nieces and nephews.

Ricky was a truck driver for a carnival for many years. He formerly worked as a cook and in lawn care. He was an avid fisherman and loved playing cards and board games. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1978 until 1981.

A gathering of family and friends will begin one hour prior to the 6 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, celebration of his life service at 3 Cross Ministries, 25435 C.R. 6, Elkhart. Pastor Jeff Lewis and Pastor Terry Cochran will officiate.

Following his wishes, cremation has taken place at Altera Cremation Services under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.
