ELKHART -- Richard J. "Dick" Sigsbee, 85, of Elkhart, died at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday (July 29, 2009) in Eastlake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born June 22, 1924, in Elkhart to James W. and Marie (Anderson) Sigsbee.
Mr. Sigsbee is survived by two brothers, Thomas (Sherry) Sigsbee of Elkhart and Paul (Cynthia) Sigsbee of Bristol.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael James Sigsbee, who was killed in the Vietnam War; and three siblings, Beverly, John W. and Franklin D. Sigsbee.
Mr. Sigsbee was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II; he served in North Africa. He was a member of DAV Chapter 19 and the Bristol American Legion. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed bowling and playing golf.
He had been an assembler at C.G. Conn and retired from Conn-Selmer in 1969.
A private visitation and funeral service took place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Carl Henry of Northside Baptist Church officiated. Burial with military honors rendered by DAV Chapter 19 and the U.S. Army Honors Burial Detail was in Zion Cemetery, Bristol.
