He was born May 8, 1953, in Elkhart to Edward Daniel and Carolyn Ann (Allbuagh) Royer. He married Marta Lotz and they later divorced.

He is survived by Wendy Michel of Elkhart, his companion; his mother, of Goshen; his father and his wife Norma, both of Elkhart; sons Randy R. (Michele Treadway) Royer, Jeremy (Beth) Royer and Don Bachman, all of Elkhart; six grandchildren; one sister, Bev (Mike) Meyer of Elkmount, Wis.; and two brothers, Gary (Dori) and Mike Royer, both of Elkhart.

Visitation is set for 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Friends may also call an hour prior to the service, set for 10 a.m. Thursday, also at the funeral home, and to be officiated by Pastor Chester Martin. Burial follows services at Little Pine Cemetery, Goshen.

Richard was a purchasing agent at Forest River for the past four years and previously worked at Keystone, Bosch and Dester Axle. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He was a Goshen High School grad and a member of the National Rifle Association.
