BRISTOL -- Richard P. O'Bryant, 64, of Bristol, died Thursday (Sept. 25, 2008) at his residence.


He was born Aug. 30, 1944, to Alfred and Lucille (Ritter) O'Bryant in Buchanan, Mich.


He is survived by two brothers, Michael (Helen) O'Bryant of Elkhart and Don (Marjean) O'Bryant of Niles, Mich.; a sister, Kathryn (Joseph) Capps of Advance, Mo.; and 14 nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred O'Bryant Jr.; and a sister, Rita O'Bryant.


Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church where friends may call for one hour prior. The Revs. Phil DeVolder and Bob Vankempen will officiate with burial and graveside services to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.


Mr. O'Bryant was a machinist at Alumax Building Products for 17 years, retiring early because of his health. He formerly worked as a butcher at Ferris Custom Butchering in Galien, Mich., for many years. He was a 1963 graduate of Buchanan High School and a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Bristol. He was a 3rd degree member of Bristol Council 11574 Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan.
