MIDDLEBURY — Richard James Kettering Jr., 68, of Middlebury, formerly of Osceola, passed away Saturday morning, April 22, 2017, at Elkhart General Hospital.

Richard was born on Aug. 3, 1948, in Elkhart to Richard James and Beverly Iris (Beam) Kettering Sr. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Hartman and grandson Mason Reeves, both of South Bend; brother, Michael L. Kettering of Elkhart; sisters Marsha (Mike) Hertsel of Middlebury, Beverly Aistrop of Goshen, Kim Kettering and Rochelle Kettering, both of Elkhart; and sister-in-law, Darcy Kettering of Bristol.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles E. Kettering.

Richard was a self-employed contractor with Fleming Sales in Elkhart since 1978. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Army and a lifelong member of the DAV.

Honoring Richard's wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart.
