Obituary
ELKHART — Richard O. Irelan, 85, of Elkhart, passed from this life to his home in heaven with his Lord Jesus Christ Monday morning May 16, at Miller's Merry Manor in Wakarusa.
He was born June 24, 1930, in Bristol, to William Albert and Hazel (Bowman) Irelan.
On July 14, 1949, he married for 66 years, Betty S. (Mills) Irelan of Elkhart. Other survivors include two daughters, Linda S. (Dennis) Weltz of Middlebury and Shirley (David) Hershberger of Bristol; two sons, Michael (Linda) Irelan of Toccoa, Ga., and William Richard (Dialene) Irelan of Elkhart; seven grandchildren; and six great-granddaughters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and James Irelan; one grandson, York Steven Staub and one great-granddaughter, Deanna Irelan.
Richard was previously employed at NIBCO Inc. for 32 years prior to his retirement.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 6 p.m. celebration of life service Thursday, May 19, at the First Baptist Church of Elkhart. Pastor Phil Byars and Pastor John Blodgett will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Elkhart or the Elkhart Christian Academy in memory of Richard.
Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is entrusted with arrangements.
