Obituary
ELKHART -- Richard D. "Dick" Fredrickson, 80, of Elkhart, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at Elkhart General Hospital after an illness.
He was born Jan. 6, 1931, in Elkhart to the late Howard and Helen (Appleman) Fredrickson. He married Doris I. Hoffman in 1950 in Elkhart, where she died in 2006.
Surviving are sons Dennis (Shelia) Fredrickson of Elkhart, Robert (Margaret) Fredrickson of Edwardsburg, Mich., Rick Fredrickson of Boston and Kenneth (Inge) Fredrickson of Goshen; daughters Susan (Larry) Newland and Dawn (David) Watterson, both of Elkhart; his sweetheart, Barbara Slabaugh of Elkhart; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Sister Gloria Weaver and great-granddaughter Jaylynn Fredrickson preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart, where the funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday. Pastor Robert Whitaker will preside. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the United Cancer Services of Elkhart County or the Wounded Warrior Project.
