Richard E. "Dickie" Noffsinger, 88, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, March 17, at East Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart.
He was born Jan. 5, 1927, in Elkhart, to William F. and Josephine (Detwiler) Noffsinger.
On Oct. 16, 1960, he married the late Dorothy L. (Hohenstein) Noffsinger.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Yvonne (John) Law of Elkhart; one brother, Jim (Carmen) Noffsinger of Elkhart; two sisters, Deloris (Lloyd) Freeby-Haug and Frances Jones, both of California; five grandchildren, Amber and Rebecca Montagano, both of Indianapolis, Katie and Madison Law, both of Elkhart, and Mary Kinzel of Nappanee; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one stepson, Michael Montagano; two brothers, Frank and John Noffsinger; and one sister, Jeannine Cullen.
Richard served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He later worked as a bookkeeper at his brother's business, Elkhart Camera Center, for several years prior to his retirement.
He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He often enjoyed gardening and bowling.
The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the 3 p.m. Friday, March 27, celebration of life service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Inurnment of his cremated remains will be in Rice Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice Care or the Alzheimer's Association.
