ELKHART -- Richard Eugene "Dick" Devenney, of Elkhart, passed away at 10:07 a.m. Thursday (May 20, 2010) in Waterbury Park Plaza in Elkhart. He was 71.
He was born Dec. 9, 1938, in Plymouth to John Raymond and Leona (Cooley) Devenney.
Surviving are two sons, John C. Devenney of Friendsville, Tenn., and Michael Patrick Devenney of California, and a sister, Mona W. Finch of Dowagiac, Mich.
Two sisters, Linda F. Long and Roberta "Bert" Roach preceded him in death.
A graveside service will take place in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart at 11 a.m. Thursday. Elkhart DAV 19 and the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard will render military graveside honors . In accordance to his wishes, Dick has been cremated.
Dick worked at several area manufacturers throughout his life and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era, serving in North Africa, France and Germany.
