ELKHART — Rhonda A. "Muff" Avery, 57, of Elkhart, passed away at her home on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, after an extended illness.
She was born in Elkhart on Oct. 10, 1953, to the late Paul J. and Roxie C. (Ellsworth) Kittredge Jr., and was also preceded in death by her twin brother, Ronald. On Nov. 12, 1977, she married Michael S. "Mike" Avery in Elkhart. He survives at home.
Also surviving are her son, Sgt. Cody Avery, who is stationed with the U.S. Army in San Antonio, Texas; a brother Paul J. (Judy) Kittredge of Elkhart; and two nieces, Justy Bennett and Tracy Likes.
A visitation will be at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
Muff was a day care teacher for nearly 30 years, retiring from "Growing Kids" day care center of Elkhart in 2010 for health reasons. She was a proud member of Blue Star Mothers and was an avid animal lover. Memorials may go to the Hospice Foundation or United Cancer Services of Elkhart County
