ELKHART — Rex E. Shreve, 96, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, March 30, at Hubbard Hill Estates.
He was born Feb. 29, 1920, in Buchanan, Mich., to Clifford and Clara (Dellinger) Shreve.
On Jan. 25, 1943, he married his wife of 73 years, Karol L. (Dunlap) Shreve.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, James (Beth) Shreve of Elkhart; one grandson, Ryan (Kathy) Shreve of Carmel; and two great-grandsons, Andrew and Elliott Shreve of Carmel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, George Shreve; brother Roland Shreve; and sister Marjorie Guideman.
Rex was employed for more than 24 years with Miles Laboratory as their chief pilot and later served as the aviation department manager prior to his retirement.
Rex loved fishing, flying planes, woodworking and spending time at the family's lake cottage in Michigan.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at Hubbard Hill Estates. Pastor Rebecca Kuiken will officiate.
