GOSHEN — Rex A. Greenawalt, 56, of Goshen, passed away Saturday evening, July 9, at his home.
Rex was born March 22, 1960, in Goshen, to the late Donald Dean and Mary Lou (Rink) Greenawalt.
He married the love of his life, Sharon L. VanDePutte, on Sept. 8, 1984, at St. Bavo Catholic Church in Mishawaka.
Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Sharon L. Greenawalt; their two daughters, Ciiarra Nicole (20) and Savannah Emery (16); sister Linda (Jack) Rhodes and brother Bill (Chris) Greenawalt, all of Goshen.
Rex attended Chamberlain Elementary School and graduated in 1978 from Goshen High School. He worked for many years at Holiday Rambler Corp. He married Shari and they moved to East Jordan, Mich. He built a log cabin and worked for Preston Feather Lumber yard. They returned to Goshen to raise their family. He worked for Forest River and Troyer Foods. Rex and his family were very active members of St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Bristol. He was also active in the 4-H Saddle Club with his daughters. Rex enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing and working with his daughters on their trucks. Rex was a loving husband, father, brother and friend, he will be missed.
Services celebrating Rex's life will begin with visitation at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 411 E. Vistula St., from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 15. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, with visitation one hour prior, also at the church. The Rev. Bob VanKempen will officiate. Cremation will follow, with burial in Oakridge Cemetery, Bristol at a later date.
The families preferred memorials are to his children, Ciiarra and Savannah.
