Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and one hour prior to Thursday's 1 p.m. funeral service at the funeral home. The Rev. Nathan "Nate" Brenneman of Northside Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Kessington Cemetery, Union, Mich.

She was born June 5, 1975, in Elkhart to Lauren R. and Mary (Barker) Burkey. She married Donie J. Roberts Jr. on June 16, 2001, in Osceola.

He survives along with two daughters, Kayla N. and Brittany M. Burkey, both at home; her mother, Mary Cameron of Elkhart; three sisters, Ellen M. (Gene) Bennett and Andrea K. Cottman, both of Elkhart, and Lori D. (Mark) Purvis of Cross Junction, Va.; and one brother, Charles D. Hoien of Elkhart.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Steve Burkey.

Mrs. Roberts worked at Auto Zone in Mishawaka at the time of her death and had been there for five years. She was involved in arts and crafts and enjoyed painting, scrapbooking, cross-stitch and gardening.

She was proud of her home and could always be found painting the house or working in her flower beds. Mrs. Roberts enjoyed decorating in wolf, eagle and Native American motifs.

She loved animals, and the outdoors and especially loved spending time with her daughters.
